Junk E-Mail Reporting Program
The Junk E-Mail Reporting Program (JMRP) is a free program intended to help large senders remove unwanted recipients from their e-mail lists. The goal of this program is to clean-up distribution lists so that users receive wanted e-mail and senders aren’t negatively affected by complaints.
Senders that sign up for this program will receive any e-mail that is reported as junk e-mail. Our hope is that senders will use this service to change their e-mailing practices to reduce junk e-mail reports and remove recipients who do not welcome such contact from their e-mailing list. Failure to reduce junk e-mail reporting incidents will result in a sender's removal from the program and could also impact a sender’s deliverability.
Below is a questionnaire for companies/clients interested in this program.
1.
Your company name, the primary contact and a contact e-mail
2. Does your
company follow standard CAN-SPAM Act practices?
3. The opt-out link for each list.
Please include a functional link that we can use for a one time test. If you
require users to have an account, please provide an account that we can access
and close for the purpose of testing.
4. The home page where people sign up for each list
5. Sender IPs for verification
6. Is the IP address registered under your company's name/domain name? Or do you have exclusive sending rights from the IP via your hosting company (not shared with any other senders)?
Please provide supporting documentation.
7. Can you remove recipients that complain from these lists?
If the answers to items 6 & 7 are "no", Microsoft will be unable to enroll your company at this time.
If you are interested in participating, please complete the questionnaire and send your responses to: http://support.msn.com/ . While we do try to accommodate requests, we cannot guarantee enrollment into the program.
Smart Network Data Services
Smart Network Data Services (SNDS) is a free service that provides senders and ISPs with data about e-mail activity from their IP space that is sent to Windows Live Hotmail. We developed this service not only to protect our consumers from abusive activities but also help reverse the trend of eroding trust in e-mail communications.
By making use of SNDS data, senders and ISPs benefit financially and improve their reputation.
Benefits for Senders
SNDS provides a variety of information to senders which can help them improve their deliverability rates. Senders will find data on e-mail activity, complaint rates and filter related information. This information can be viewed day by day and broken down into different views. Furthermore, the data can be exported to other applications which may be able to refine the data even further.
Benefits for ISPs
Judicious analysis and use of SNDS data can lead to cost savings and increased customer satisfaction. ISPs often are not aware of all the types of traffic emanating from their networks. SNDS data can provide some additional insight into the amount and type of content passing through your servers. This information can help ISPs detect and stop abusive users on their network which reduces bandwidth costs and improves the reputation of the network.
Getting started
New to Smart Network Data Services? Getting started is easy! Go to our Access Request page, enter an IP range you own, and just a few clicks later, you'll have historical data starting from the day before on those IPs' e-mail volume and spam-related statistics.
Safe list Information
“False positives” occur when a legitimate requested e-mail is inadvertently blocked or placed in a bulk folder by a spam filter. The result is that consumers don’t receive wanted e-mail, legitimate senders can’t deliver their messages, and e-mail receivers lose the goodwill of their customers. One of the solutions offered by Windows Live Hotmail for addressing this issue is the Sender Score Certified program, formerly known as the Bonded Sender Program. Sender Score Certified program from Return Path, Inc. identifies legitimate senders of e-mail based on their past sending behavior and their adherence to strict program standards.
To qualify for the Sender Score Certified program, participants must adhere to a set of standard practices for sending commercial e-mail. In addition, once they are certified, senders undergo TRUSTe monitoring of compliance with program standards and complaint rates. Any IP that is over the allowed threshold may be removed from the program. Senders are forced to maintain high quality e-mail programs with low complaint rates in order to remain in the program. Participation helps avoid false positives but does not guarantee delivery; MSN’s terms of use and guidelines must still be honored.

Sender Solutions
E-mail abuse, junk e-mail, and fraudulent e-mails (phishing) continue to burden the entire e-mail ecosystem. To help build back consumer trust in the use of e-mail, Microsoft has put in place various policies and technologies to
help protect our consumers. However, Microsoft understands that legitimate and law-abiding e-mail senders should not be negatively affected. Therefore, we have established a suite of services to help senders improve their deliverability to Windows Live Hotmail consumers.

ISP Solutions
Microsoft understands that no single organization can change or eliminate e-mail abuse on its own. Internet Service Providers (ISPs) play a major role in identifying and curbing abuse as they host millions of e-mail accounts around the world. Therefore, we have built some services to help ISPs gain a good understanding of the type of traffic originating from their networks and reaching Windows Live Hotmail customers. ISPs can then use this data to stop abusive activity (junk e-mail, phishing, etc.) on their networks which reduces overall costs and improves their reputation.
